Why sailors choose the Sun Fast 3300

The Sun Fast 3300 is a Verdier and Andrieu design built for short-handed offshore racing, which Jeanneau put forward for the double-handed offshore Olympic trials. Testers loved its downwind pace, with surfing speeds into the teens, and found the controls easy to manage for two. Early boats could lose rudder grip without warning when pushed hard reaching, and it needs reefing early upwind in a breeze.

  • Designed for double-handed offshore racing
  • Very quick and lively under spinnaker, surfing in the teens
  • Controls laid out so two can sail it
  • Optional water ballast
  • Early rudders could let go suddenly; reworked by the builder
  • Basic interior; flat bow slams upwind in waves
