Why sailors choose the J/122

The J/122 is a 40-foot J/Boats performance cruiser-racer aimed at IRC, one-design and handicap racing as well as fast offshore cruising. Testers found it stiff, very well balanced and easy to handle short-handed under spinnaker. Tank capacity is small for long-distance cruising.

  • Fast cruiser-racer for IRC, one-design and handicap fleets
  • Stiff and well balanced with little weather helm
  • Easy to handle short-handed, controls led to cabin top
  • Can switch between racing and cruising set-ups
  • Small fuel and water tanks for long cruises

What sailors and testers say · in our words, from the linked pages

  • He found it crisp, stiff and well balanced, expected it to do well on IRC and one-design circuits, but noted small tanks for long cruises.
