Why sailors choose the First 44.7

The First 44.7 is a Farr-designed bigger sister to the First 40.7, named Sailing World's best cruiser-racer for 2005. Judges found it stiffer and more powerful than the 40.7, with an excellent racing deck layout and a near-luxurious interior, so it suits owners who want to race offshore and cruise in comfort. It was only tested in light air, and the full-length toerail was a minor gripe.

  • Stiffer and more powerful than the 40.7
  • Well-designed racing deck and cockpit
  • Very comfortable interior with good engine access
  • Set up for IRC and handicap racing
  • Suits owners mixing offshore racing and cruising

What sailors and testers say · in our words, from the linked pages

  • Judges rated its sailing as exemplary, stiffer and punchier than the 40.7, with a well-planned deck and an interior almost luxurious below.
