Why sailors choose the 6 Metre
The International 6 Metre is a long-running development class, once Olympic, that races in Classic and Open (modern) divisions on an international circuit. Sailors are drawn by the mix of yachting history, elegant boats and the chance to race at the edge of design, plus a strong social scene. The class says good used modern boats cost less than many expect.
- Development rule that has driven technical innovation
- Classic division for older boats, Open division for modern ones
- International regatta circuit at fine venues
- Strong camaraderie and social side
- Used modern boats can be fairly affordable
